Are you suffering from the winter blues? Whether you’re living on the East Coast, West Coast or middle of the country, we are all experiencing shorter days, less sunlight, and more indoor time.  For many people, myself included, this can lead to the winter blues.

I have had many days over the past few weeks when I just wanted to crawl up into a little ball and get back under the covers.  I have found myself dozing off in the middle of the afternoon…and I’m not a napper!  Sugar and empty carb cravings seem to be at an all time high this time of year.   I have also found that my mind is not as clear as usual and I can be easily distracted.

Traditional Ways to Fight the Winter Blues

There are lots of ways to fight the winter blues. Sun lamps can be very effective when used in the morning.

  • Increased exercise
  • Vitamin D supplements
  • Spending time outdoors in the sunshine
  • Eating foods high in Omega 3 fatty acids can all be very helpful.
